An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a special education school in Barnsley as a Healthcare assistant. Greenacre is a special school educating children and young people aged 3-19 years with severe and complex care needs.
At Greenacre, Apollo Home Healthcare provide the School a Health Team who deliver on-site support to children with a very wide range of ongoing health care needs. The team work closely with the teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral care staff to ensure that children with additional healthcare needs get the support that is required and can participate fully in their education.
Meet our service user
Our Service user is a remarkable 16-year-old boy who requires a dedicated individual to support his complex care needs within his specialised school environment.
He is very sociable and loves to be around people. He shows a big passion for football and holds a season ticket for Sheffield united. He enjoys being out and about, enjoying walks around his local village in his powered wheelchair, watching films and playing on his iPad.
Your role will include providing one-on-one support, including personal care, moving and handling, attending to his clinical care needs and assisting with all daily activities. You will support with his engagement in his educational and social experiences and follow his personal care plan tailored to his needs.
You will work collaboratively with school staff, and therapists, promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
This position is Monday – Friday Term Time only
Full Time & Part time Days, up to 35 hours per week
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have experience with the following:
We are currently paying £14.50 per hour for this position
Approx. £101.50 per 7-hour shift
